Southern Shutters first opened its doors in Austin in 1993 – back then, our name was simply Southern Shutters. We rented out an old ball-bearing cleaning factory, located just off N. 135 and Howard Lane. Because of building demand, space swiftly became a big issue. During the first few years, we leaned on larger companies to provide us with raw shutter panels, but over time, we realized that we wanted to control the quality of the panels we were installing more precisely. This inspired us to search for new land where we could build our very own manufacturing facilities and finally control every aspect of the production cycle.

Finally, we were able to purchase property in Manor, TX (east of Austin) in 1996 and built 10,000 new square feet of production space. During this time, our name also became Southern Shutters, Inc. The construction on this new facility was completed in November of 1997, and we’ve been in our present-day factory ever sense.

For well over a full decade, Southern Shutters has provided high-quality products via personal, in-home consultations ONLY. In 2008, we finally opened our very first showroom Now we were able to show our customers full sized displays of our shutters in different configurations. The showroom became a very welcoming location where valued customers can see all of our special products and services in-person. We hope to see you there soon!
